Memory permissions determine whether Justly’s AI can retain long-term contextual signals from your sessions to improve personalization over time.
When Long-Term Memory is enabled, your journaling experience becomes more personalized and contextual.
Benefits of Enabling Memory:
- Personalized insights – The AI remembers recurring themes and preferences from your past sessions
- Contextual reflections – Reflections become more relevant and adaptive to your unique journey
- Pattern recognition – Long-term emotional patterns are better understood and referenced
- Improved prompts – Journaling prompts become more tailored to your needs and interests
- Continuity – The AI can reference previous insights and avoid repeating the same advice
Example:
If you frequently journal about work stress, the AI will recognize this pattern and provide more targeted guidance about work-life balance in future sessions.
Getting Started:
Memory improves with consistent journaling. The more you use Justly, the more personalized your experience becomes.
When Long-Term Memory is disabled, each journaling session is analyzed independently.
What Happens When Memory is Disabled:
- Independent analysis – Each session is analyzed individually without reference to past entries
- No pattern retention – No long-term personalization is retained between sessions
- Fresh perspective – Every session starts with a clean slate
- Privacy priority – Maximum privacy with no cross-session data retention
When You Might Disable Memory:
- You prefer maximum privacy and data minimization
- You want each session to be completely independent
- You’re testing the app and don’t want personalization yet
- You’re using a shared device and want session isolation
Note: You can always re-enable memory later if you change your mind. Your past sessions will be analyzed when you turn it back on.
You can control memory permissions at any time through your settings.
How to Manage Memory Permissions:
- Go to Settings
- Tap Memory (or Memory Permissions)
- Toggle memory on or off
- Changes take effect immediately for future sessions
Important Notes:
- You remain in full control of what the AI retains at all times
- Changes apply to new sessions going forward
- Disabling memory doesn’t delete past insights, but future sessions won’t reference them
- You can toggle this setting as often as you like
Privacy Reminder:
Even when memory is enabled, Justly only stores thematic patterns and insights—never your raw journal entries. Learn more about Privacy & Data Security.
